Founder of Bo's Abdominal Acupuncture
Prof. Bo Zhiyun developed abdominal acupuncture through decades of clinical observation, research and teaching. His work organized abdominal point selection into a coherent system centered on the Congenital Meridian theory and the standardized Turtle Acupoint Map.
Prof. Bo's work brought abdominal acupuncture into a coherent framework that can be taught, practiced and discussed through shared terminology and procedures.

Beijing Bo's Abdominal Acupuncture Research Institute is the only institution in China and overseas that holds the complete intellectual property rights to “Bo's Abdominal Acupuncture”, and is dedicated to the inheritance and education of Bo's Abdominal Acupuncture. It is responsible for training professional physicians at home and abroad and for disseminating the humanistic philosophy of Bo's medicine. The secretariats of both the WFAS Abdominal Acupuncture Inheritance Committee (AAIC-WFAS) and the CAAM Abdominal Acupuncture Professional Committee (2012–2026) are based here.

As one of the earliest national-level TCM diagnosis-and-treatment and continuing-education projects, the clinic has been recognized as a Science Popularization Base of the China Association for Acupuncture and Moxibustion and the Difficult-Disease Consultation Center of CAAM Abdominal Acupuncture. In fourteen years it has trained several hundred high-quality medical practitioners.

The China Association for Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM) is a national first-tier academic society founded in 1979 — a non-profit, academic body that, in 2019, was approved as the protecting unit for “acupuncture”, a national intangible cultural heritage item. The Abdominal Acupuncture Professional Committee, hosted by the Beijing Research Institute, works to:
Since 2014 — declared the “first year of abdominal acupuncture public welfare” — the committee has brought free clinics to nursing homes, schools, military units, drug-rehabilitation centers and disability centers, and provided complementary care to compatriots in Hui autonomous regions. It has safeguarded over 22,000 participants at outdoor-sports events and runs signature programs including “Love a Smile”, “Acupuncture in Action” and “Support Our Servicemen”.

Founded at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, the society has grown to nearly 2,000 members. Through on-campus training and peer learning it builds the talent pipeline for the future of abdominal acupuncture.

A subsidiary body of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) — an international federation of non-governmental acupuncture organizations in formal working relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).
